According to Professor James Levine from Mayo Clinic, you can burn fat by replacing bad habits with some other habits that more healthful. Levine suggests you do some of the following habits:

At home

Collect the garbage in your home soon. Then take it out to be discarded into the trash. Do not wait until the garbage piling up in the house.

If you have a household assistant, occasionally take over his/her duties. You could, for example, clean the house for 40 minutes. It will burn about 540 calories.

Breakfast Can Lose Weight and Streamline Body

Do you think that breakfast is not important? Do you believe that breakfast habits that can make the body fat? Please throw away that thought and now accustom to start your day with breakfast. Why? For, assuming that breakfast is not important is wrong. For, assuming that the breakfast that can make the body fat is also wrong.

Breakfast is also not going to make the body into fat, just the opposite: You can keep your weight and slimming the body with breakfast on a regular basis. The result of research conducted by Harvard University showed that people who regularly eat breakfast have a tendency to 50 percent for not obese than those who do not have the habit of breakfast.

Why breakfast can lose weight and slim body? The answer can be found in the book The F-Factor Diet, written by nutritionist Tanya Zuckerbrot, RD. According to Zuckerbrot, breakfast after a night on an empty stomach can increase metabolism, which means your body is more efficient in burning calories throughout the day. In other words, burning more calories will slower if you do the activity with an empty stomach.

However, please note breakfast can automatically lose your weight. Because, if you eat foods containing simple carbohydrates (e.g. donuts), you will often eat. This occurs because the glucose in your body will quickly rise but also fast down so you will quickly feel hungry.

The importance of breakfast for those who are trying to lose weight is also said by Katherine Zeratsky, RD, nutrition experts from Mayo Clinic. According Zeratsky, breakfast can help you maintain weight and slimming the body for several reasons.

First, if you don’t take breakfast in the morning, your body’s insulin response will increase, so your body will store more fat. The result is clear, after a long time your weight will rise.

Second, breakfast can suppress appetite because breakfast reduces excessive hunger during the day. Remember, excessive hunger can make you overeat. []

Short Sleeper, Beneficial or Harmful?

Is sleep less than 7 hours of harm health? Yes, this is occurring in most people. Their concentration decreases, the body feels tired, and they are sleepy. But, wait, some short sleepers do not experience things like that. These special people do not have health problems though sleeping less than 7 hours.

The short sleepers do not need to sleep for long to regain their fitness. The experts call them to have mutations in hDEC2 (genes that regulate the sleep cycle). These mutations keep them “safe for health” despite their lack of sleep.

Margaret Thatcher (Prime Minister of England), Martha Stewart (businessman and culinary experts), and James Franco (actor) are some people who are included in the class of short Sleepers. They sleep less short every day, but still be able to concentrate, not tired, and not sleepy. Unfortunately, experts are not sure whether it was due to genetic mutations in their bodies or because of their strong-willed.

Ying-Hui Fu, professor of neurology at the University of California San Francisco, USA, said the people who naturally have a tendency as a short sleeper does have a competitive advantage. However, he warned, perhaps not many people in this world who have genetic mutation.

Indeed, freshness can still be felt by people with a willingness to be active even if they sleep less than 7 hours. They become short Sleepers not because of gene mutations, but because of the many activities that must be done so that their sleep needs are not met perfectly. According to Fu, people like that will have long-term health problems, such as cancer and heart disease risk.

Well, how about you? Do you include people who were born as a short sleeper sleeper or do you become short because you have to busy working? If due to be busy at work, you must be vigilant because it could be that you will be exposed to health problems in the long term. Remember, most of people need 7 to 8 hours to sleep in order to recover fitness. Some people, according to the study, even sleep up to 10 hours.

Dr. David Volpi from Manhattan Snoring and Sleep Center, warns, people who sleep less would be tired, poor in appearance, and less able to concentrate. Sleep deprivation can also lead to poor hand-eye coordination. Those who slept less than 6 hours even been proven to have a greater risk of obesity, stroke, heart attack, and death. []

Hypertension Kills You Quietly

We often hear people say that headache is one sign of hypertension. Other signs often associated with hypertension are chest pain and neck stiffness. All assumption are not true, because hypertension has no specific signs and sufferers do not feel certain symptoms.

Indeed, people suffering from hypertension may experience disruption in the form of chest pain, neck stiffness, and headache. But these symptoms are not high blood pressure parameters. To ensure that a person has high blood pressure, measurements must be done.

You have normal blood pressure if the size is less than 140/90 mmHg. If your blood pressure is greater than or equal to 140/90 mmHg, you are affected by hypertension. Unfortunately, many people do not realize this. They do not realize that their souls actually are being threatened.

Unfortunately, many people consider that hypertension is not a dangerous disease. In fact, many people died because of hypertension. This occurs because hypertension increases the risk of heart failure, coronary heart disease, kidney damage, dementia, and stroke.

Then, what should you do to ensure that you are safe from hypertension? First, measure your blood pressure. If it is close to 130-139/85-89 mmHg, immediately consult a doctor for your blood pressure monitored so as not to rise to high blood. This is important, because if people already affected by hypertension, the consequences can be felt in a short time. Complications can occur without having to wait for many years. In short, hypertension can be a deadly attack without warning.

Second, you should avoid a lifestyle that can lead to obesity, smoking, and consuming alcohol. Because, people with this lifestyle has a higher risk of hypertension.

Third, if you are already overweight, derive your weight. If you have a habit of smoking, stop the habit. If you are fond of eating salt and alcohol, reduce the levels. Do not forget to eat more vegetables and fruits and increase physical activity. []

The Older, The Heavier

In general, the older we are, the heavier weight of our body. A health site, Health, states that woman increases her weight 1 kg per year. The weight increases especially for 12 years, i.e. ages 18-30. Thus, during 12 years, women gained about 12 kg.

According to Penny Gordon-Larsen, PhD, professor of nutrition at the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, one of the causes of weight gain is the change in lifestyle. In the 18-30 age range, most people turn to a more relaxed lifestyle than before.

Examples of more relaxed lifestyle are: spending the time to sit in the office for 40-45 hours a week plus eating snack in between running the job or at the break.

Getting married is also often regarded as one of the causes of obesity. The assumption is that people who are married live life with more calm because they have already had couple.

Other factors that could cause obesity as you get older are: to have children, lack of exercise, and often eat at fast food restaurants. []

Office Worker Lifestyle Stimulates Death

Working in the office has become a lifestyle nowadays. The office workers are proud to be employees who spend more time behind a desk or in front of the computer rather than doing physical activities such as laborers, construction laborers, or farmers. In fact, in the long term, lifestyle like this is a serious threat to health.

Office workers spend most of their time off. Most time is to sleep. The rest is to sit behind a desk all day working in the office. After work, while on his way home, they sit, either on the bus, train, or in private cars. When arrived home, they prefer to watch television or play video games rather than doing physical activities such as gardening or cooking.

At first glance, this is a lifestyle that seems reasonable. They need entertainment to break away from the pressure that’s been through all day at work. But that’s the problem: their bodies could be overweight or obese due to lack of physical activity.

WHO note in this case is quite astonishing: 60-80 percent of the world’s adult population now is not physically active. That means that 60-80 percent of the world’s adult population is at risk of obesity.

Obesity has contributed 30 percent of world mortality. British Journal of Sports Medicine in 2010 released a study stating that people sitting or not physically active in a long time have a higher risk of disease. It is said also, early death can result from obesity due to lack of moving.

So what’s the solution? WHO recommends that we everyday do exercise (regular physical activity) at least 30 minutes. []

Abdominal Fat

Abdominal fat is a problem that is troubling many people nowadays. They desperate, especially those who have felt 30 years old, fond of eating fatty foods, ever been pregnant, or those who like to drink beer, because to them the problem comes. Many of them desperate for not finding a way to make their stomach flat and toned as before.

Such despair is unfortunate, because in fact there is a way to get rid of abdominal fat, although not instantaneous. The way it is: to lose weight. The faster you lose weight, the sooner your belly fat disappear.

The good news was delivered by Mayo Clinic endocrinologist, Michael Jensen, recently. He explained that basically the excess calories into our bodies is stored in two places, namely in the abdomen (visceral fat) for the short term and under the skin (subcutaneous fat) for the long term.

Visceral fat  is a piece of tissue that attach to the stomach, exactly beneath the abdominal muscles. This is the first fat will erode when you successfully lose weight. Jensen said that, whatever your body shape, both pears and apples, as long as you successfully lose weight, excess abdominal fat can be removed. []

Maintain Weight with Simple Way

Many people underestimate the benefits of water for health. They consider the white water is only useful to relieve thirst. A research conducted by experts from Virginia Tech, the United States, proves that assumption was not true. In fact, according to research published this research at the National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Boston, that, even white water is very useful for losing weight.

The study examined 48 adults aged 55 to 75 years. They were divided into two groups and each was observed for 12 weeks. The first group underwent a low-calorie diet by drinking two glasses before eating. The second group also underwent a low-calorie diet but they should not drink extra water before eating.

As a result, people who joined the first group able to lower the average weight is 2.7 kilograms more than those who joined the second group. The first group lost weight 7 pounds, while the second group lost weight only 5 kilograms.

These results prove that drinking pure water really help us improve health. Why water is very effective for weight loss process? Dr. Brenda Davy, one of the researchers, explained, this is because water can make full but do not make full calories.

Therefore, people should prefer to drink water and limit high-calorie sweet drinks. “This is a simple way to maintain weight,” said Davy.

What if we’ve already liked sweet drinks and hard to leave but wanted to lose weight? If that’s the case, Davy suggested that we should choose a diet drink or other types of artificial sweetened. “It also can help cut calories and lose weight,” he said.

Even so, Davy reminds us not to drink too much water. “Drinking water can indeed make us full without adding calories. But drinking too much will lead to serious health problems, “he said.  [ mr/kcm]
